Concealed Carry Permits - Utah
Have you ever wanted a concealed carry permit and just could not find the time and money to attend a Texas Concealed Permit Class? That is exactly why we became certified to instruct the Utah Non-Resident Concealed Firearm Permit Class. The class requires approximately four hours of classroom instruction and no range time, no qualifying and no cost for ammunition and shooting. If you have a background that includes handgun familiarity and do not need instruction on the range to shoot a handgun, you may benefit from attending the four classroom hours of instruction and obtaining the Utah Non-Resident Concealed Firearm Permit. Less classroom time, less cost compared to a full Texas Concealed class and it all happens at our office in Denton, TX. Classes are held once a month and usually are noon to 4:00 pm on the first Saturday of the month. Additional classes can be scheduled as needed to suit your schedule and are also available at your location with a minimum of six individuals. Class includes the passport photo, fingerprints and all necessary paperwork to apply for the permit. Cost for the Utah CFP Class is $125.00 at our location. Total cost for the CFP including BCI (Bureau of Criminal Investigation) in Utah is less than $200. Time required for processing the complete application in January of 2010 runs close to six weeks from the date BCI receives the completed application. Time may vary according to background checks, number of applications received and quality of completion/quality of application.
Utah Non-Resident Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP)
EFFECTIVE 3-9-11, ALL UTAH CFP CLASSES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Utah legislature is in session and are voting on allowing certified instructors that reside in Utah only to teach their concealed licensing class. Texas legislature is also in session and there are a couple of bills that have been filed that will not allow an out of state concealed license unless you have a concealed license from the state you reside in. If either of these go into effect (and it appears Utah will pass theirs for sure) it will affect your out of state concealed license.
UTAH CFP Classes may be scheduled on a request basis. If you have a group that wants the Utah CFP, please call the office and we will accommodate your group.
This course assumes that you already know how to use your handgun. There is no "shooting qualification" included or required within the classroom material the Bureau of Criminal Identification in the State of Utah mandates to obtain their CFP.
The Course Outline includes topics such as:

- Ammunition
- Fundamentals of Shooting A Handgun

Texas Concealed Handgun License
The Texas Concealed Carry Permit class is offered every month of the year. The class is approximately ten hours of classroom instruction and qualification on the range with a handgun. You may qualify with either a semi-automatic or revolver. If you qualify with a revolver, you will only be licensed to carry a revolver. If you qualify with a semi-automatic, you may carry either a semi-automatic or revolver of your choice. The class is conducted at our office in Denton usually on Saturdays and the range qualification takes place on Friday evening the day before or just after the classroom portion is completed on Saturday. The range is located at my property and is a private range facility. The cost for use of my range is included in the cost of your CHL class. Cost for the Texas Concealed Class is $125.00 and includes all of the necessary documents completed in class for the application process; passport photos, fingerprints and all paperwork. Your cost for the ammunition required is not included in the class fees. Renewals are conducted at the same time of the initial class and require less time in the classroom and as of 2010, may not require you to qualify on the range. Time required for the CHL to be issued runs approximately four to six weeks from the time DPS in Austin receives your completed paperwork. Effective in 2010, DPS allows and encourages you to fill out your application paperwork online prior to taking the class. This also allows your paperwork to be processed quicker once the class is completed and cuts down on the time it takes to have your TX CHL issued and in your possession.
This course assumes that you already know how to use your handgun!
No class time is available to teach basic shooting skills. If you believe you cannot pass the proficiency test with a score of 175/250, (70%) or better, you should consider enrolling in the basic NRA class to learn to shoot. One on one sessions are available.
Concealed Handgun License course length is 10 to 15 hours.
